Succorfish’s GIGO (Gear In, Gear Out) beacons provide a highly efficient, ergonomically designed solution for autonomous monitoring of fishing activities. Rated for depths of up to 2000 meters and with a battery life of up to three years, these beacons offer a reliable tool for remotely tracking both mobile and static fishing operations. When attached to fishing gear, the beacons automatically record each deployment and retrieval, with the SC2 VMS system detecting the gear’s dwell time in and out of the water. Combined with position and time data from the VMS, this creates a precise and comprehensive picture of fishing activity, even when multiple types of gear are used.
