Succorfish technology has a wide range of applications when it comes to tracking assets across land and sea. As Hillheads Farm in Newcastle discovered to their advantage, the SC2 can be an essential piece of technology to help in the tracking and management of commercial vehicle fleets of any size.
Hillheads is a family run farm established for over 90 years in Killingworth, Newcastle. The business has successfully grown from a small poultry farm to become a major wholesale and retail business supplying a range of bars, restaurants and café’s throughout the North East of England. As demand has grown for the range of fresh food offered by Hillheads Farm, so too has its fleet of eight delivery vehicles, presenting a logistical issue for Hillheads owner, Lee Gilbert.
With so many deliveries going out every day and customer service of paramount importance, Lee was looking for a reliable method of tracking his fleet to ensure the business had robust tracking data to support delivery timetables and ongoing scheduling.
Following an audit of the systems and requirements at Hillheads Farm, Succorfish recommended the SC2 tracking device to support precise location monitoring and tracking of vehicles in real-time. The intelligent, multi-functional and multi-platform solution can be hard wired to each vehicle in an unobtrusive manner and the superior antenna configuration provides accurate positional and management data to within three metres accuracy.
Owner Lee was impressed with the simplicity of the robust device and software system and the SC2 was installed within 24 hours on all company vehicles by trained Succorfish engineers.
Activated via the Succorfish installer App, each SC2 was linked to a specific van within the Succorfish platform allowing Lee Gilbert to track movements throughout a shift. Lee and his staff can now track every vehicle in their delivery fleet to offer an accurate ETA for customers.
The value of the SC2 tracking system become even more clear in July 2019 when a van was stolen and located just 16 mins after being reported to Succorfish thanks to the SC2 asset tracking system.
At 11.49am, the Succorfish technical team were alerted that a Hillheads Farm van had been reported stolen. Within one minute, the Succorfish team had advised Hillheads Farm on the location of the stolen vehicle using real time tracking data. Just 16 minutes after the initial call was made, Succorfish were able to guide the owner of the vehicle to its new location and the vehicle was recovered. The SC2 data was handed over to Northumbria Police with all tracking information to support its whereabouts and aid their enquiries.
Hillheads Farm was able to not only quickly and efficiently identify the location of their vehicle, but the van was recovered without any additional cost to the business thanks entirely to the real-time data provided by the SC2. The driver was able to carry on with deliveries only 30 minutes behind schedule.
Lee Gilbert, owner of Hillheads Farm comments: “Succorfish presented a complete asset tracking system that was scalable to suit my commercial fleet and completely unobtrusive from a driver perspective. We now have access to essential real time data showing my team where our fleet of vehicles are located and their route throughout a shift.
“More importantly, we have complete security knowing that the SC2 tracking system can locate a vehicle quickly if the unthinkable occurs. When the vehicle was stolen, events unfolded so fast but with the Succorfish system we were able to react and get our van back and working quickly. The work it has saved me with insurance companies has made the kit indispensable in my opinion.”
